About The Hawkeye State
The Hawkeye State is an independent Iowa sports and community platform built by Hawkeye fans, for Hawkeye fans.

Founded in 2011 by lifelong Iowan Bryan Webber,(shown above with former NCAA Player of the Year, Luka Garza,) THS began as a Facebook community supporting former Iowa Hawkeye Brett Greenwood and the #GreenForGreenwood movement. What started as a grassroots effort grew into a year-round home for Iowa sports, former Hawkeyes, and the people and stories that make our state special.
Today, The Hawkeye State reaches a growing audience of 40,000+ Facebook followers and 5,000+ email subscribers, built 100% organically — without paid social advertising, purchased followers, or growth services.
Our content is guided by three words:
Authentic. Unfiltered. Inclusive.
We celebrate the Hawkeyes of today while continuing to follow our Hawks wherever their journeys take them — from Caitlin Clark and Luka Garza to George Kittle, Keegan and Kris Murray, and the next generation still to come.
Our content follows a simple Rule of Thirds: Hawkeyes and former Hawkeyes, the broader world of sports, and the Iowa communities and people who connect us.
THS is proudly independent, intentionally human, and still operated by the same guy who started it in 2011.
No corporate newsroom. No manufactured audience. Just a genuine Iowa sports community that keeps showing up.
Once a Hawkeye, always a Hawkeye.
Now and forever.
